The Drum Machine.
I once heard that amateur drummers find to hard to keep good time consistently, so I invented a drum machine to help. The pub "The Horn (reborn)" mentioned in the poster on the back wall is a local award winning music venue.
Village Life.
The trouble with growing up in a small village is that it can be quite claustrophobic. Everything you do is seen, noted and remembered.
Crossing The Border.
This picture represents differing cultures and the perceived gulf between them. But if you look closer we all have more in common than would at first appear. The two little huts, although of completely different style, follow the same basic architectural rules, much as we do.
Feet Up!
Feet up in the garden with the great British panacea, the ever present 'Nice cup of tea'. This picture is made up from individual dots in a kind of Pointillism or Stippling style.
Big Lens Lighthouse.
When I started drawing this one it was meant to be a tower block, but I got sort of lost in it and it ended up as this Lighthouse. I liked the idea of a candle powered beam and thought you would need really huge lenses and so Big Lens Lighthouse was born. (Although it could easily belong to Big Len - if you ignore the lack of punctuation!)
The Towers of the Sun and Moon.
I wanted to create a pair of fantasy towers formed from tree trunks so came up with The Towers of the Sun and Moon. They were built for studying the skies. Students studied the daytime sky from one tower and the night sky from the other. The classrooms are at the top of the spiral stairs and at dusk the students changed towers. 1st and 2nd year students had to descend to the bottom and climb to the top of the other tower. 3rd and 4th years could use the middle bridge called The Twilight Crossing. 5th years and Masters could use the top bridge, The Masters Bridge.
